Cement fiber board

Cement fiber board is a construction board, the surface of which is smooth and cement coloured. Its main compound is cement. We use cement fiber boards to manufacture stonechip coated boards StoneREX Plus and painted boards StoneREX Color Plus It is also possible to buy untreated raw board or a raw board treated as per the client’s requirement.

Thanks to their excellent strength, fireproofness and weather resistant properties cement fiber boards can be used in external conditions for covering facades and socles of the buildings, as well as in internal conditions for building structures or as a cladding material in wet rooms.
• 3 – 5 mm thick boards can be used to cover ceilings, eaves soffits and areas under balconies or in wall structures if the boards do not have to bear too much load
• 8-10 mm thick boards can be used to cover wall structures indoors as well as outdoors
• 12 – 20 mm thick boards can be used in structures with bigger load, for instance in floor structures
The boards are available in cement grey colour, but may be also painted in any RAL-, Acomix-, Tikkurila- ja Colomorm colour or stonechip coated.

The boards are:
• with excellent mechanical strength and wear resistant
• resistant to temperature and moisture fluctuations caused by weather conditions and they may be installed in direct contact with surface
• frost resistant
• non-combustible – fire class A1
• environmentally friendly
• water resistant
• do not contain substances hazardous to health
• insect and fungal resistant
• electrical arc resistant
• with good sound insulation properties

The main components of cement fiber boards are cement, cellulose and polypropylene fibers, which give the boars their mechanical strength, non-combustible properties and resistance to weather conditions. The composition of the boards is ecologically safe and the boards do not contain toxic substances or substances hazardous to human health.

Machining of cement fiber boards requires the use of carbide tipped saw blades with the maximum tooth pitch of 10 mm. For boring carbide tipped borers shall be used.
The boards should be installed on a wooden frame by ensuring deformation joints between the boards (figure 4) or boards shall be placed overlapping (figure 5). In deformation joints joint tape or joint and corner stripes of matching colour may be used. In case of large areas in external conditions a drip steel plate should be used in horizontal joints.
For fixing the boards it is required to use screws made of stainless steel and pre-bored holes with the minimum diameter of 8 mm. The minimum size of the hole is 1.5 x diameter of the fastening screw or rivet. When fastening the screws too tight fixing and screwing in the board should be avoided – the board shall have slight space to move
Countersunk-head screws shall not be used for fixing the boards. To ensure the screw head is level with the surface of the board a wider chamfer may be pre-bored in the surface (figure 3). In untypical application areas (glazed facades, greenhouses, rooms with constantly high moisture level or structures with frequent changes in environment conditions) the number of deformation joints, the size of the fastening screws and pre-bored holes shall be stipulated in the special design

The standard measures of cement fiber boards are 1200 x 2500 mm and 1200 x 3000 mm, but we can also cut to size according to the client’s requirements. Boards come with the thickness of 4, 6, 8 or 10 mm.
