Cement bonded particleboard

Cement bonded particleboard is a construction board, the surface of which is smooth and cement grey coloured. Its main components are cement and fine wood chip fractions.

APPLICATION AREAS

Thanks to their excellent strength and weather resistant properties cement bonded particleboards can be used for covering walls, floors and ceilings in internal and external conditions.
The boards are fireproof, impact resistant and with good sound insulation properties. As the façade claddings with cement bonded particleboards reduce energy consumption of the building, facilitate ventilation of the facades, buildings are moisture proof and fungal resistant, cement bonded particleboards with various surface finishing are widely used mostly for insulation and renovation work of the buildings. Thanks to their excellent properties cement bonded particleboards can be used for building private and apartment buildings, but also large public buildings, industrial and storage facilities.
Cement bonded particleboards are used for cladding interior surfaces in applications, where the surface has to be durable, wear-resistant and with good sound insulation properties plus moisture proof and fungus resistant.
As the volumetric weight of the boards is less than that of mastic concrete boards or cement fibre boards, they suit better in the application areas, where the weight of the material is important.
The boards are available as raw boards, painted in any RAL-, Acomix-, Tikkurila- and Colomorm colours or stonechip coated.

MACHINING AND INSTALLATION

Machining of cement bonded particleboards requires the use of carbide tipped saw blades with the maximum tooth pitch of 6 mm. For boring carbide tipped borers shall be used.

The boards shall be installed on a wooden frame by ensuring deformation joints between the boards  or boards shall be placed overlapping. In deformation joints joint tape or joint and corner stripes of matching colour may be used. In case of large areas in external conditions a drip steel plate should be used in horizontal joints.

For fixing the boards it is required to use screws made of stainless steels and pre-bored holes with the size of 0.8 – 1.1 x fastening screw diameter. When fastening the screws too tight fixing and screwing in the board should be avoided – the board shall have slight space to move. Countersunk-head screws shall not be used for fixing the boards. To ensure the screw head is level with the surface of the board a wider chamfer may be pre-bored in the surface.

In untypical application areas the number of deformation joints, the size of the fastening screws and pre-bored holes shall be stipulated in the special design.

The standard measures of the boards are 3200 x 1250 x 10 mm and 2800 x 1250 x 10 mm, but we can also cut to size according to the client’s requirements.
